Tool #2

Becoming a member of a PLN can be very useful for an educator. I am a firm in not reinventing the wheel. Joining a PLN is a way in which educators can collaborate and share ideas about teaching in an environment that encourages teachers to use and develop others' ideas. Teachers are constantly searching for new ideas on the web or asking coworkers for information. Being a member of a PLN can give the teacher another avenue to pursue help or share a great idea.

As a commenter, some points made by Coolcatteacher stuck with me. I agree with her that comments should be meaningful Just like when we assess a student's performance we need to be specific in our praise or criticism. This applies to commenting on blogs as well. Students need to be taught how to comment meaningfully so that their remarks can help the blogger refine their ideas. Also, we should comment and critique tactfully, respecting the opinions of the blogger and others who are commenting.

I commented on Weblogg-ed, Always Learning, Larry Ferlazzo's website of the day, ilearntechnology and Free Technology for Teachers.
